For this week, we were tasked to create a visual essay. We had to pick out of two themes; Transgression and Resistors.
Putting Transgression and Resistors into simpler words,
TRANSGRESSION is essentially crime, and RESISTORS are people standing up for what’s right i.e, politically, socially etc.
As an aspiring wildlife camerawoman, I wanted to focus on wildlife documentary, however, it wouldn’t have fit within these themes. I still wanted to surround my idea around wildlife. Taking into account that RESISTORS are people standing up for what’s right, I decided to focus on the idea of animal cruelty and how people stand up against it.
I decided to use pictures of animals who had fallen victim to animal cruelty, and animal lovers so as to showcase that there are people who fight against this brutal behaviour. I also included a picture of a public speaker to show that people are trying to spread awareness.

Very good work, and a good idea for a documentary. For clarification ‘transgression’ can mean ‘to go beyond a boundary or limit’ of what is societally acceptable, but doesn’t necessarily mean ‘breaking the law.
